I make HYBRIDS, and I've been making them since 1994. (That was before everything with more than one ingredient was called a "hybrid.") I don't have a PhD in genetic engineering, but it's such fun to play doctor, I can't help myself. Besides, I don't know what the folks in lab coats are doing with their little clumps of cells, but if I met one of my HYBRIDS on the street, he'd definitely get a date. We could chase some caribou down together, share a bucket of apples, or even get into some personal grooming.

I hate the way modern art often preys upon people's fear of appearing ignorant before others. You're in a gallery, looking at some messed-up heap a four year old could've made by accident, and you're expected to believe it represents man's inhumanity to man, or love, or something. Please. Don't expect me to believe that's what your work means if it isn't visually clear. I don't fake the details in my work -- or worse -- ignore them, so as long as you look closely, you'll get my work right. A child could understand these sculptures. They're a piece of cake.
